Day 8️⃣: ✨MINIMALista ❤️ Your Look 👓 Challenge 👗

Let's recap: the MINIMALista Love Your Look Challenge (MLYLC) is a simple exercise to prepare you for adopting a MINIMALista lifestyle. By tracking and recording your clothing selections for two weeks, the MLYLC will reveal which of your garments you love and which are sucking up closet space.

Even though I've already embraced a capsule wardrobe philosophy, I am using the MLYLC to identify which winter garments to transition into my spring capsule collection and which style of garments I should invest in to fill in gaps.

What I wore:

1.     CoreDiane Von Furstenberg Harlow Silk V-Neck Blouse

2.     Core: St. John magenta open cardigan

3.     Core: J. Crew Toothpick Jeans

4.     Top layer: BB Dakota Aztec Jacket

5.     Accessories: Kendra Scott Signature Elle Earrings in Chalcedony; Panacea Long Beaded Crystal Circle Pendant Necklace, Mint

6.     FootwearLeoffler Randall Ingrid Wedges

Why:

Core: Maybe because magenta was one of my wedding colors or because it mimics my MappCraft logo or because its energizing and makes me feel creative but probably because all of those decisions are related – the color of this DVF blouse is EVERYTHING. And for real, ya’ll -  I am feeling the faux bois because it matches nothing and everything at once.  But to be safe, I layered a solid magenta St. John open cardigan between the faux bois blouse and geometric jacket to give your eyes a print reprieve and also because I purchased it for $54 bearing its original $795 price tag. SCORE.

MINIMAListas embrace a seasonal POWER COLOR

Core: These J. Crew Toothpick jeans are tight as what, hemmed too short and the waist band hits my belly in precisely the worst spot but they are incredibly versatile and I wear them a lot so I guess none of that matters.

Top layer: In general BB Dakota has a bohemian aesthetic which isn't quite my vibe but with a funky attitude and asymmetrical drape, this geometric print blanket jacket makes a strong statement that makes me look more fashion risky than I actually am.

A MINIMALista knows that one STATEMENT PIECE can make a lot of noise

Accessories:  With a mix of prints and a pallet of black, white and magenta with accessories in mint, this outfit has a lot going on. The combination of Panacea crystal pendant and Kendra Scott classic Elle earrings in chalcedony work because the green stones soothe the impact of deep pink and remind me of the Caribbean, which wouldn’t be a bad place to be in right now.

A highly curated closet allows MINIMAListas to

MIX PRINTS and PALLETS with ease

Footwear: Although they would have been fantastic in Florida, I wouldn’t normally wear these Loeffler Randall Ingrid Wedges in Falls Church at the end of February if it weren’t for the awful ankle situation their sandal sisters caused my feet last week. If you look closely you can spot the damage. Off season none withstanding, I dig the Spring Break '99 era thick sole and black and white print.

xoxo, Jenn
