Building a fine jewelry wardrobe is a lifetime endeavor. I believe in keeping (and sharing!) a rolling gift wish list. Your most precious jewelry is often that which marks milestones, special occasions, or loving relationships. That said - don't be afraid to buy yourself fine jewelry! There are so many resources for affordable (and not so affordable) fine jewelry. Stick with your personal style and use my top 10 piece jewelry capsule list to guide you as you assemble your collection.

Mixing metals: For a long time I overthought mixing precious metals in the same look but I've since realized that this type of fashion rule is antiquated. It's modern to wear what you love and layer, stack, and clash your precious metals with abandon. However, a mixed metal item or two definitely helps bridge the gap.

Invest in quality pieces of jewelry that will last and make sure you LOVE each of them. Real gold and diamonds are timeless, keep their worth, and will never go out of style. Each item should be personal to your style, have a story, and make you feel special when wearing them. Use this capsule as a guideline. Swap a few of these items out to make it your own. The best thing about fine jewelry (aside from its natural beauty, the way you feel wearing it, and that DRIPPPP factor) is resale value. Jewelry is literally worth its weight in gold (currently $54.65 a gram). You will always be able to sell it. That said, fine jewelry does not need to be branded to be valuable BUT the marquee jewelry brands (Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels) will recoup the original purchase price more significantly than unbranded jewelry.
