10 Piece Fine Jewelry Capsule

Tiny Closet, Tons of Style

Building a fine jewelry wardrobe is a lifetime endeavor. I believe in keeping (and sharing!) a rolling gift wish list. Your most precious jewelry is often that which marks milestones, special occasions, or loving relationships. That said - don't be afraid to buy yourself fine jewelry! There are so many resources for affordable (and not so affordable) fine jewelry. Stick with your personal style and use my top 10 piece jewelry capsule list to guide you as you assemble your collection.

Mixing metals: For a long time I overthought mixing precious metals in the same look but I've since realized that this type of fashion rule is antiquated. It's modern to wear what you love and layer, stack, and clash your precious metals with abandon. However, a mixed metal item or two definitely helps bridge the gap.

My Fine Jewelry Capsule

Invest in quality pieces of jewelry that will last and make sure you LOVE each of them. Real gold and diamonds are timeless, keep their worth, and will never go out of style. Each item should be personal to your style, have a story, and make you feel special when wearing them. Use this capsule as a guideline. Swap a few of these items out to make it your own. Just keep it 10 and under so we keep it a tight-knit capsule. 10 pieces of fine jewelry is all you really need to style any look from a casual day to a night out. Collect high-quality pieces slowly.

Let’s curate your jewelry capsule one piece at a time.

Aurate Signate Ring

signet ring

Add your initials for a classic, super personal touch. Signet rings are traditionally worn on the pinky, if you choose this look, make sure you size down from your normal ring size.

Cocktail Ring

I love a commanding gemstone cocktail ring - this is a perfect item to select in your birthstone for another personal touch

pendant necklace

My pendant necklace collection is vast! I'm never without one.

Layering necklace

In July I had my strongest sales month ever at TRR and earned a $500 shopping credit for my efforts, which I used to purchase this dainty Zoe Chico diamond and gold lariat style necklace - perfect for layering. Here's a similar style available on theRealReal.com.

diamond bracelet

This white gold and diamond bracelet was an anniversary gift that I wear alone or layered with mixed metal bracelets. One day I will get the big daddy of diamond bracelets - a tennis style like this one available on TRR.

Mixed metal bangle bracelet

Two words: David Yurman. Let this classic (which you may already own) act as the foundation for a mixed metal arm party!

diamond Studs

My Grandmom let me borrow her .50 carat diamond earrings for my wedding day and I kept them for nearly 10 years until one walked off my ear in yoga class (she didn't talk to me for six months when she found out #truestory). After a year trying to manifest the return of its mate, I reset the remaining earring with a safety back and now I wear it in my second hole.

Birthday gemstone Moment

Personalization doesn't get better than a precious gemstone. My November birthstone is citrine and I have several rings and a pendant necklace in my signature shade of abundance.

Classic watch

This item is still on my wish list! Originally I wanted a Cartier Tank but now I have my eyes on the classic of all classic watches: two-tone Rolex DateJust (from theRealReal, of course!) HINT: With the highest resale value of any timepiece on the market, a Rolex is a solid investment you can feel good about purchasing and enjoying for generations.

The best thing about fine jewelry (aside from its natural beauty, the way you feel wearing it, and that DRIPPPP factor) is resale value. Jewelry is literally worth its weight in gold (currently $54.65 a gram). You will always be able to sell it. That said, fine jewelry does not need to be branded to be valuable BUT the marquee jewelry brands (Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels) will recoup the original purchase price more significantly than unbranded jewelry.
