That Time I Said I'd Never Leave My House in LuLaRoe Leggings
In this video I claimed that I'd never, ever leave my house in LuLaRoe leggings. Well. People can change. After spending several months deeply entrenched in the wacky world of LuLaRoe, I've eased back on that policy - a little.
How to Leave Your House in LuLaRoe Leggings
Scenario #1: Pop of Print
When wearing LuLaRoe leggings out of your home for the sake of fashion (not an oxymoron!) it is advisable to treat the print like flair. Think accent wall, not flying unicorn wallpaper.
Scenario #2: Namaste What?
A few seconds pursuing the OTHER "Lu-" leggings retailer will reveal a bevy of printed leg wear for triple the price of your $25 pizza pants. My point? Wear LuLaRoe to yoga. They are stretchy, comfortable and a yoga studio is among the safest spaces on the planet to wear weird printed pants without fear of ridicule.
Scenario #3: Holiday Whimsy
Nothing says light-hearted like cherub print leggings on Valentine's Day. Just take them off before hubby gets home. Whimsical is adorable for the kindergarten class party but it's not going to earn you a new Yurman bracelet. 'Na mean?
Seriously, the holiday prints have my heart. They are cute, comfy and fun - especially when you are celebrating holidays with small children. Let's hope LuLaRoe does a better job with Valentines than it did with Christmas. This isn't a disco. All I wanted was some peppermint print leggings.
Many thanks to LuLaRoe Cheryl Holloway for LuLaRoe Key Piece #7: Printed Leggings

In mid November I launched Tiny Closet Holiday Survival Guide - my very first capsule wardrobe e-book.
The goal was to help readers create a micro holiday capsule out of clothes they already owned (with a few festive additions) so they could look festive, feel stylish, save money and have an outfit ready for every occasion that pops up from Thanksgiving - NYE.
The results? Festive #AF. All the gals that purchased the e-book - plus plenty more who simply love capsule fashion - spent the season sharing holiday looks on the MappCraft | Tiny Closet Survival Guide Facebook Group (you should join!).
The Tiny Closet Holiday Survival Guide was such a success I plan to launch a follow up e-book in mid February: Tiny Closet Essential Survival Guide. This evergreen style guide will walk readers through the entire capsule wardrobe creation process with instructions on how to create a core capsule wardrobe you can supplement all year long depending on the season and occasion.
Until then, enjoy this round up of my holiday looks!

Hope your holiday season was festive, fashionable and fun!
See you next year.
Situation: Party Panic
It’s 11AM on a Thursday in mid December and your husband calls to remind you that his company holiday party (that he never told you about) is tonight at 6PM.
Do not panic. With this easy to execute holiday party preparedness plan you’ll emerge from your office bathroom looking festive #AF in fifteen minutes flat.
Step 1: Apply White Strips
If it’s a party, there will be pictures. Capsice?
Smile wide, apply these and proceed with steps 2 – 10.
Step 2: Bronze, Aggressively
Unless your BFF is a Bronze Berry rep, your skin is probably pasty.
Massage a generous (and I mean generous) serving of bronzing lotion into your legs and immediately wash your hands.
Don’t forget to wash your hands.
Step 3: Step Into Sequins
Pair this timeless holiday staple with nearly any top, from a slouchy tee to a classic white button down for an instantly chic ensemble.
Plus, sequins don’t wrinkle, so even if it’s been sitting in your desk drawer all month, your good.
Step 4: The Peek-a-Boo Pedi
In a true party emergency, opt for a metallic peep toe and use your polish to fake a pedicure on the exposed toes only.
Hey – it will do.
Step 5: Add Impact Accessory
Chandelier earrings, statement necklace or an arm full of bling bangles: Pick one and be done.
If you chose bangles, take them off until you complete steps #6 - #7.
Step 6: Breathe Deeply. Apply Liner.
Take this next step very slowly.
Using a light hand, draw a line of dots from mid lid to end. Connect the dots. Now draw a small line upwards from top of upper lash lash line. Draw another line from lower lash line and meet top line at tip to create a triangle. Fill in the triangle with eyeliner.
Step 7: Strengthen Lash Game
Fake lashes are hands down amazing for elevating your eye game. First, remove fake lashes from pack and use your desk scissors to trim if necessary. Dot lash glue along edge of fake lashes. Wait 15 seconds. Lightly place far end of fake lash on top of natural lash. Press lightly. Repeat on other side. Repeat on other eye.
Don’t worry, the glue dries clear.
Step 8: Highlight Your Face
Using a small makeup brush, tap iridescent highlight powder on the inner arch of both eyebrows, down the bridge of your nose, on top of lip and over cheekbones.
You can thank me later tonight after you look at your pictures.
Step 9: Red Lips
I don’t want to hear about how you don’t wear red lipstick. There is a red lip for every skin tone. Ask the girl at Ulta to help.
Now put it on. Go to party. Look festive.
Step 10: Grab Your Bag
Your party clutch only needs to be big enough to fit your phone, credit cards and lippy.
Metallic is recommended but if you have a cute and semi clean cosmetic case – make it work.
BAM! Party perfect. Now get out there and make merry.
Just don’t forget to ditch the white strips.

P.S. I'll bet you have at least 6 events between now and NYE. It's not to late to take your fashion game to next level festive. I can help.
The Art of The Ask
An effective capsule closet, one that guarantees out-the-door outfit solutions that make you feel fantastic every day, is hinged on a solid wardrobe core. Expertly crafted accessories and signature jewelry strengthen this core considerably.
Sartorial objects d’art do not come often, nor do they come cheap. Such investments must be plotted, planned and timed impeccably – which brings me to Christmas.
The holidays are a critical wardrobe core strengthening opportunity.
I will not let you blow this.
Here is my well-oiled, time-tested strategy to ensure that you wake up December 25 with a love token befitting of your year round fabulousness.
Epic Gift Tip #1 : Start Early
If you are embarking on this process today – we may be too late. Men are not trained to read brains. It is your responsibility to approach this mission with thoughtful consideration to what you want and how to get it. I'd advise spending the five weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas researching by day and – ahem – wifing by night.
Additionally, volunteer back rubs, ask him if he lost weight, laugh at his jokes and exclaim, “you’re so smart!” at least once.
Epic Gift Tip #2: Recruit Support
Toddlers are awesome at telling people things you told them not to repeat. Work this in your favor.
First, emphatically make your toddler promise not to tell Daddy about that time in Target when the check out boy told Mommy that she was the prettiest Mommy he’d ever seen.
Now wait one week and show toddler a picture of your gift. Say “Isn’t that pretty for Mommy?” Make toddler promise not to show the picture to Daddy or tell Daddy how much Mommy wants the gift for Christmas. When toddler asks why, tell toddler you are sad because the gift is so expensive.
Try to fake cry a little.
Epic Gift Tip #3: Be Very, Very Specific
Now that we've laid the groundwork it's time to clarify exactly what we want for our Christmas gift. Print out a picture and information about your gift and tape it to the refrigerator. Circle the gift in red. Specify size, color, retailer and shipping deadline.
No need to be clear on price.
If you have a husband who insists on selecting his own gifts, present him with three options. Include the gift you actually want and two lovely but more expensive ideas.
Epic Gift Tip #4: Have A Back Up Plan
Let’s pretend it’s December 25. You put in the wife work, planted hints and provided impeccable purchase instructions. Surprise! Daddy bought Mommy a reindeer sweater and wind chimes.
Girl! Promise me you’ll buy that beautiful gift for your damn self. You have my permission. You earned it and your capsule wardrobe will thank you.
Arm Candy Canes
Whatever you do, don't tell Matt I want these gifts. They are just too much.
I hope you've enjoyed this satirical gift getting guide. I would never actually be so brazen in my attempts to land a gift. Or would I? Only Santa knows for sure.
You know what would make a great gift for less than $10? (Hint: It's an e-book I wrote.)
