Day 1️⃣1️⃣: MappCraft.com ✨MINIMALista ❤️Love Your 👓Look Challenge 👗

Only three days left of the 14 Day MINIMALista Love Your Look Challenge! I realize that it has taken me four weeks to document a two-week project but life doesn’t always happen in real time, okay?

Did this series inspire you to take a closer look at your clothing choices? Have you identified which garments send you into the world feeling amazing and which drain your precious life force? I hope so because we are only a week away from the Spring 2016 MINIMALista Ruthless Wardrobe Edit. AKA: The first closet of the rest of your life. Get your rolling rack ready!

What I wore:

1.    Base: Spanx opaque tights

2.    Core: Max Studio leather look skirt

3.    Core: Cashmere tunic sweater with exposed zipper detail from Gilt.com

4.    Accessories: Kendra Scott cocktail ring; Christian Louboutin ROUGE LOUBOUTIN Sheer Voile Lip Color #001S pendant

5.    Footwear: Loeffler Randal cut out booties

Why:

Core: There are items that hang in my closet to act simply as muse, a fashion quirk that’s followed me from childhood. Unlike my previous life, where I had an auxiliary closet dedicated to “inspiring” garments, I now limit this practice to one or two frocks that are too fanciful for frequent use but visually represent my personal style aspirations. Embellished with leatherette pleats, this otherwise simple, black Max Studio pencil skirt epitomizes my personal aesthetic: basics elevated by unexpected elements.

Core:  You can’t see the best part of this black cashmere tunic sweater: an exposed zipper that runs the full length of the back. Another example of a simple silhouette elevated by fabric and details.

MINIMAListas make room in their closet for INSPIRATION

Accessories: All black everything requires stand out accessories that don’t recede into the darkness. Love the chunk, function and pedigree of my Christian Louboutin lipstick pendant. Even though I don’t wear it often, I can’t seem to shake this oversized abstract Kendra Scott cocktail ring.

MINIMAListas know that BOLD ACCESSORIES keep all black from boring

Footwear: These cut out platform booties were my first Loeffler Randal purchase. LR is quite obviously my favorite shoe and handbag resource for the very reasons mentioned above: the aesthetic is simple and sturdy, elevated by quality material and interesting details. I bought these booties in September 2008 for New York Fashion Week when Cibu sponsored Christian Siriano’s first show after winning Project Runway. Now that was a fashion moment. Originally these shoes were gray and I wore them to the bone. With the help of my cobbler, we reincarnated them in 2012 with black dye and to this day I feel all the fashion feelings (and very tall) when I wear them.
